Fysisk planering

national definition:

Fysisk planering syftar till att avgöra lämplig användning av mark- och vattenområden. Det handlar om exploatering eller skydd och bevarande av dessa områden. Den fysiska planeringen leder i regel till framtagandet av olika typer av planer, främst översikts- och detaljplaner.
Enligt den svenska regeringen är uppgifterna för den fysiska planeringen i Sverige:

• att utveckla en ändamålsenlig och långsiktigt hållbar bebyggelsestruktur;
• att den tekniska infrastrukturen anpassas till och utvecklas med hänsyn till miljökrav och naturens kretslopp;
• att skapa en rik och levande vardagsmiljö;
• att förbättra det lokala inflytandet.

Eftersom det i Sverige är de svenska kommunerna som har den suveräna rätten att anta fysiska planer (det kommunala planmonopolet) ligger ansvaret för den fysiska planeringen i första hand hos dessa.

The purpose of land use planning is to determine the suitable use of land and water areas. This is a question of development or protection of these areas. Land use planning normally leads to the production of different kinds of plans, primarily comprehensive plans and detailed development plans.
According to the Swedish government, land use planning in Sweden has these tasks:

• to develop a settlement structure that is suited to its purpose and sustainable in the long-term;
• to ensure that technical infrastructure is adapted to, and developed with a consideration to, environmental demands and the natural cycles;
• to create a rich and living environment in the everyday life;
• to improve local influence.

Since Swedish local authorities have the sovereign right to adopt land use plans in Sweden (this is called the municipality's plan monopoly), the responsibility for land use planning is primarily with the local authorities.
