Den byggda miljön är ett samlat begrepp för bebyggelse, kommunikationsleder, anläggningar och teknisk infrastruktur.
Begreppet förekommer bland annat i plan- och bygglagen. Där står att en kommuns översiktsplan skall ge vägledning för beslut om hur den byggda miljön skall utvecklas och bevaras, d v s kommunens syn skall framgå av planen.
Sedan april 1999 finns 15 nationella miljökvalitetsmål. Ett av dessa miljömål är "God bebyggd miljö":
"Städer, tätorter och annan bebyggd miljö skall utgöra en god och hälsosam livsmiljö samt medverka till en god regional och global miljö. Natur- och kulturvärden skall tas tillvara och utvecklas. Byggnader och anläggningar skall lokaliseras och utformas på ett miljöanpassat sätt och så att en långsiktigt god hushållning med mark, vatten och andra resurser främjas."
Built environment

The built environment is a collective term for buildings, transportation routes, amenities and technical infrastructure.
The term can inter alia be found in the Planning and Building Act. The act states that a municipality's comprehensive plan is to give guidance for decisions on the development and conservation of the built environment, i.e. the plan is to show the view of the municipality.
Since 1999 there exist 15 national Environmental Quality Objectives. One of these objectives is "A Good Built Environment".
"Cities, towns and other built environment must provide a good, healthy living environment and contribute to a good regional and global environment. Natural and cultural assets must be protected and developed. Buildings and amenities must be located and designed in accordance with sound environmental principles and in such a way as to promote sustainable management of land, water and other resources."
