1. Wierzchnia warstwa ziemi o określonych cechach fizycznych (bagnisty, kamienisty, piaszczysty, skalisty), użytkowana lub przeznaczona na określone cele (leśne, rolne, budowlane).

2. Grunty rolne to wszelkie użytki rolne, oraz powierzchnie terenowe związane z gospodarką rolną,

3. Grunty leśne to lasy, tereny zrekultywowane dla potrzeb gospodarki leśnej oraz drogi dojazdowe do lasów.

4. Grunty budowlane to tereny zagospodarowane na cele nierolnicze i nieleśne.
