Nasjonalpark

Nasjonalparker kan opprettes på statens grunn for å bevare større urørte eller i det vesentlige urørte eller egenartede eller vakre naturområder. Grunn av samme art, men som ikke er i statens eie, og som grenser inntil statens grunn, kan også inkluderes i området for nasjonalparken. I nasjonalparker skal naturmiljøet vernes. Landskapet med planeter, dyreliv og natur- og kulturminner skal vernes mot utbygging, anlegg, forurensninger og andre inngrep. Vedtak om opprettelse av nasjonalparker treffes av miljøverndepartementet.

Økonomiske tap som påføres grunneiere og rettighetshavene ved opprettelse av nasjonalpark kan kreves erstattet av staten. Kan ikke eiendom ikke lenger utnyttes på regningssvarende måte kan den kreves innløst, se erstatning og innløsning.

National park

Statutory term for land areas under a specific conservation status according to the Nature Conservation Act (cf.)

National parks may be established on state land to preserve large unspoiled or essentially unspoiled or distinctive or beautiful natural areas. Land of the same characteristics bordering the area, but not in state ownership may also be included in the area of the national park. In national parks the natural environment shall be protected. The landscape with its flora, fauna and natural and cultural monuments shall be protected against development, construction, pollution and other encroachments. The Ministry of Environment decides the establishment of national parks.

Land owners and holders of rights may claim compensation from the state for financial loss resulting from regulation to national parks. If the property not any longer can be used in a profitable way, the owner may claim realization of the property, cf. Compensation and Realization of property.
