Alle fritids- og turistanlæg i og uden for byerne bortset fra sommerhusområder: grønne områder, parker og torve, pladser, kolonihaver, idrætsanlæg, støjende fritidsanlæg, lystbådehavne, feriecentre, campingpladser, forlystelsesanlæg mv. regnes normalt for rekreative formål i dansk planlægning. Areal til rekreative formål kan reguleres i lokalplanen og kommuneplanens rammedel.

Areas for recreational purposes are all leisure and tourist facilities within and outside cities and towns except summer cottage areas: green spaces, parks and squares, allotment gardens, sports facilities, noisy leisure facilities, yacht harbours, holiday centres, campsites, amusement parks etc. are normally regarded as recreational purposes in Danish planning. Areas for recreational purposes are regulated through local plans and the municipal plan.
