Роль секторального планирования в градостроительном контексте заключается в решении вопросов размещения отдельных объектов той или иной отрасли экономики. Секторальное планирование -- это форма планирования в рамках отдельной отрасли, например, управления транспортной сферой или водными ресурсами, жилищного строительства и др.

Planning of the development of particular branches of economics. In the spatial planning context the role of sectoral planning consists in the solving of the issues related to location of the objects of particular branches of economics.  This is a form of planning that is carried out within a single sector such as transport or water management or housing, etc. The priorities are likely to be quantitative (increase output) or qualitative (improve the service) with less regard to issues of location and territorial impacts, though investment decisions within the sector will impact differentially on different places.
